Surgical Procedures

Oral surgery has vastly improved over the last few decades. Thanks to groundbreaking techniques and cutting-edge technology, our surgical options are safer, faster, and more effective than ever before. If you need oral surgery, you’ve come to the right place! North Hills Implant & Oral Surgery specializes in a variety of surgical procedures that will improve your oral health and the appearance of your smile.

Bone Grafting

Successful implant treatment requires a sufficient amount of bone in the jaw. We may recommend a bone graft if your bone is too thin or too soft to support an implant. A graft can help restore deteriorated bone, and give you a second chance at implant treatment!

Dental Trauma

If you experience dental trauma be sure to schedule an emergency appointment as soon as possible. Injury or trauma to the face can result serious problems for your oral health. If one of your teeth becomes loose or knocked out, you may need oral surgery.

Full Mouth Reconstruction

Some people have dental problems so severe and widespread that they need multiple surgeries. In this case, we may recommend a full mouth reconstruction. As the name suggests, a full mouth reconstruction refers to the rebuilding of all teeth in a patient’s mouth. Because we specialize in surgical procedures, we may work with other specialists to provide you with optimal results.

Oral Pathology

Oral pathology refers to the diagnosis and study of problems that affect your oral and maxillofacial region. The goal of oral pathology is to cure oral diseases with causes that are not initially apparent. Once we determine the exact causes of a problem, we can develop a more precise treatment plan.

PLATELET-RICH FIBRIN

We are always trying to explore treatments that partner with your body to enhance and accelerate the healing process. One such option is platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) therapy. This solution is natural, safe, and made from a sample of your own blood. PRF is now widely used to help patients heal at a faster rate from invasive oral procedures while reducing inflammation.

Tooth Extractions

Our wisdom teeth are not the only ones that can create problems. Some teeth can become impacted or infected due to eruption issues. Eric Hoverstad, DDS may recommend a tooth extraction to help alleviate painful symptoms after other treatments have been exhausted.

Impacted Canine Exposure

When a tooth is unable to fully erupt from the gums because it runs into a neighboring tooth or structure in the mouth, it is said to be impacted. Impaction often occurs because the tooth that is trying to erupt doesn’t have enough space to do so, or because the angle it is coming in at is improper. The result of a tooth impaction can be manifold – the baby teeth are sometimes not knocked out, the adult teeth are often crowded, and there is a high risk of infection and discomfort. To avoid tooth impaction, we will perform a surgical exposure of the soon-to-be impacted tooth and a tooth extraction for any baby teeth that ought to be removed.

Once the impacted tooth is exposed, we can guide it into place using a specially designed chain that is anchored both to the braces and the impacted tooth. The chain will guide the tooth into the correct position. Once we have the tooth in the right area, we can ensure its proper alignment by adding a bracket to it and applying minor force to it using the braces.

Ridge Augmentation

Many patients need a bone graft, or ridge augmentation before implantation is possible. Osseointegration, the process responsible for the many benefits of dental implants, requires an adequate amount of bone in the jaw. If osseointegration does not occur, implant failure is virtually guaranteed. Fortunately, we offer ridge augmentation to improve the quantity and quality of deteriorated bone. In many ways, ride augmentation allows patients to receive dental implants when it would otherwise be impossible.
